WEEKEND AND HOLIDAYS Those of you that have fished with me know that I do this because I love people, as much as the passion that I have for this fishery. The Park is a wonderful and being away from "civilization" is a great part of the experience. You have probably had to listen to my version of what is important in life … “Time, health and the people around you”. Fishing on the weekends can be challenging nowadays. More and more people are coming to the Park, mostly on the weekends. While you can not begin to consider the Park crowded, especially compared to ANY other fishery that I know, very often, we must travel much farther to get away from other boats and to find fish on the weekends. Many times, some very good spots are disturbed by boaters and anglers who simple do not know or care what they are doing. One powered, "blow-by" by a flats boat on a shallow flat can wipe out two hours of fishing. This could be the best or sometimes the only good two hours in a weekend day’s trip! Fishing during the week, at least here, all but eliminates this problem. My wife Vickie and I enjoy spending time together and with our friends and family. The weekends are when our friends are in town and off work. However, we also try to reserve the weekends for the guided kayak trips ... Private and Mother Ship Trips. They are a great experience and we can fish where most boats simple can not get to! There may be a $100 premium for the traditional boats on weekends and holidays. (If my wife is alone on the weekends, she is probably going shopping). This is at our discretion for now ... hopefully, it will not be a hard and fast policy. If you really want or must fish on the weekends, we certainly will! However, as an alternative, we would encourage you to try the kayak trips.
