The Everglades National Park is vast and richly diverse in fish species. In the same fishing charter, it is possible to catch bass in the freshwater, snook in the backcountry, tarpon in the rivers, redfish on the beaches, trout on the flats, as well as, permit and cobia on the near shore structure. One of the primary frustrations of fly fisherman everywhere is finding fish. It is not uncommon for Chokoloskee Charters anglers to catch 10 or more species of fish during their stay.
How many times have you had your trip hurt by weather? This vast area of protected water means that weather days are virtually non-existent. There is always sheltered places with fish so you do not have to spend your fishing day cooped up at the fishing lodge or villa. Fly fishing the Everglades is wonderful for this reason alone. Never, do you have fish in the wind all day!!
You will be fishing the deep backcountry of the Park, the rivers, the beaches, the islands, the creeks and/or the near-shore structure. Most fly trips are made with two anglers in a state-of-the-art 17' Robert's flats boat outfitted for specifically for fly fisherman. Many wading fly-fishing prefer the trips on the "Yak Attack" and use the outfitted kayaks aboard to access the wading areas. However, we venture into deeper water in a larger boat after pelagic species such as cobia, kingfish, mackerel, bonito, and sharks.
Everglades City and Chokoloskee Island, with excellent accommodations are located 90 minutes from Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and Ft. Meyers; two hours from West Palm Beach and Boca Raton. Why go to Naples fly fishing, when the Park is only 30 minutes away? The Park is an absolutely wonderful place to fly fish ... EXPERIENCE IT!
